25th Anniversary brochure from the Uƒa film studio, published in 1943.

In 1943, the Uƒa film studio turned 25 years old. To commemorate this auspicious occasion, Reichsminister for Propaganda, Dr. Goebbels, had commissioned the Agfacolor film, Münchhausen, starring Hans Albers and featuring many of the studio's finest and most popular actors.

The studio sent this brochure to all cinema owners, encouraging them to join the celebrations by ordering the large AO-sized poster of the 25th anniversary celebrations (pictured), as well as placing 25th anniversary logos on their film posters and movie theatre marketing.

The brochure also provided a Chronology of the 25 years from 1917 to 1942, with National Socialist commentary, as would be expected. Interestingly, films banned by the Third Reich, such as the Weimar era film Dr. Mabuse der Spieler, are shown in the pantheon of films highlighted by the studio in this quarter century. Also, it should be noted, that no less then three films by Karl Ritter are listed. Having three films listed was also accorded to the director Gustav Ucicky, and four films by silent film director F.W.Murnau; but major directors like Veit Harlan had but one film listed, and Hans Steinhoff and Carl Froelich, none at all.

We reproduce scans from this rare brochure below, without watermarks, for the benefit of film scholars, historians, and film collectors.  Please cite this Collection if this brochure is cited. Thank you,
